Clear Braces

Clear Braces
Braces – but with a clear difference!
“Clear” braces, or ceramic braces, are a popular alternative to traditional metal braces for teens and adults. Unlike traditional braces, clear braces use tooth-colored brackets, creating an effect that is less noticeable and more natural. The great thing is they work the same and cost the same as traditional metal braces!
Why Choose Clear Braces?
If you are interested in clear braces, you have come to the right place. Authentic Orthodontics is committed to giving our patients the best care, and – often – that means finding solutions that better fit a patient’s lifestyle.
For many people, getting braces can feel like a cramp in your style. The important thing to remember about braces is not that you are wearing them, but the end result that comes from having them! You are making a valuable investment in your future by getting the smile you have always wanted.
Still, though, for many professionals, the prospect of metal braces can seem distracting or invasive in everyday life. If you are an adult or teen with but don’t want the look of traditional metal braces, clear braces could be the right choice for you!
Getting Clear Braces
Clear braces involves a similar process to getting traditional metal braces. For both, you will meet with Dr. French or Dr. Olsen to determine what the best treatment path will be most effective for you.
During each of your appointments, which will occur about every month to month and a half, your wires will be tightened. This routine maintenance keeps your smile shaping in the right direction, and allows your orthodontist to measure your progress.
The treatment time for clear braces can vary depending on the complexity of your case. Dr. French or Dr. Olsen will give you a reasonable timeline at the start of your treatment, while also letting you know of any additional treatment that will follow, such as retainers.
Caring for Clear Braces
Since clear braces are lighter in color, it stands to reason that they can stain more easily. However, the clear braces we use don’t stain because of the special design that doesn’t require the use of the staining prone elastic ties. That being said, you can always stay ahead of regular dental staining by regulating your diet and drink choices and opting for healthier choices. For instance, choose to drink water over sodas; avoid candies and gummy foods for vegetables.
As always, regular dental hygiene is the most important thing you can do for your smile during treatment. Along with regular dental visits – every six months with your general dentist – you will also follow daily hygiene guidelines that will make life with braces a breeze. Simply brush your teeth after each meal, and be sure to floss at least once per day.
Dr. French or Dr. Olsen will provide the right flossing tools for you, to help you keep your clear braces as clear as the day you got them. With flossing thread and dental brushes, you can reduce plaque and build-up from food around your brackets.
Overall, clear braces are just as easy to maintain as traditional metal braces!
