Dr. Michael French
Dr. Michael French was born and raised in Southern Alberta, in the small town of Cardston. In 2003, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Indiana University. He was then accepted to the Indiana University Graduate Orthodontics program, where he completed a Masters thesis and 2 years of orthodontic specialty training. Dr. French is a registered Specialist in Orthodontics and is Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Despite his many years away from Alberta, Dr. French knew it was always home and his orthodontic career commenced in October 2005 in a practice in southwest Calgary. Over the years, Dr. French had a vision of building his own practice, from the ground up, and on February 11, 2014, that dream became a reality; Authentic Orthodontics opened its doors!
Dr. French enjoys playing basketball, golfing, camping, and spending time with his family. Dr. French and his wife, Shantel, have 8 children that keep their life busy and exciting. They are also active members in their church and community. He is very personable and likes to get to know each patient throughout treatment.
Dr. Michael Olsen
Dr. Michael Olsen was born in southern Alberta, but did most of his growing up in Kelowna, British Columbia. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2011 from West Virginia University, and was then accepted to the University of Missouri-Kansas City Graduate Orthodontics program. While there, he completed both a Masters thesis and 2 ½ years of orthodontic specialty education. Dr. Olsen is a registered Specialist in Orthodontics and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada examination for dental specialists.
Since both Dr. Olsen and his wife, Elizabeth, have roots in southern Alberta, setting up practice in Calgary was a great choice for them. Living in Calgary allows their family access to the beautiful mountains and the opportunity to enjoy the sunshine of the prairies. They are kept busy with their 5 children and also have active roles in their church and community. Dr. Olsen grew up playing hockey, baseball and basketball and continues to play basketball in a men's league. He also enjoys getting out for a round of golf when he gets the chance.
He enjoys seeing the changes throughout treatment and being a part of the self-improvement process. He values practicing in a setting that combines new advances in orthodontics, blended with sound fundamentals in treatment.
Dr. Landon Leavitt
Dr. Landon Leavitt, our resident orthodontist, was born and raised in Southern Alberta in the small town of Cardston. As the youngest of seven siblings, he quickly learned how to stand out and thrive on his own, a skill that he brings to our team today. His upbringing taught him many valuable life lessons that continue to serve him well in his career.
After graduating from Cardston High School, Dr. Leavitt pursued his goal of becoming an orthodontist in the USA. He earned a Neuroscience degree from Brigham Young University and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (DMD) from Midwestern University in Chicago. During dental school, he participated in many community and school volunteer positions and was awarded the Student Leader Award from the American College of Dentists. Dr. Leavitt was then accepted to Indiana University School of Dentistry where he earned his Orthodontic certificate and Master of Science in Dentistry.
Before starting his dental school education, Dr. Leavitt married his high school sweetheart Michelle, who also grew up in Cardston. They now have 3 beautiful daughters and are excited to be back in Alberta, calling Calgary home! He's looking forward to snowboarding and snowmobiling in the Alberta mountains again, he enjoys sitcoms and board games, and he's always kept on his toes parenting his energetic girls.
